The aim of this research is to examine the influence of gender roles on career choices of university students from various perspectives. Additionally, the impact of gender roles on career choices of university students is investigated based on variables such as age, faculty of study, class level, socio-economic status, and factors affecting career choice. The research was conducted by using the survey model, which is one of the quantitative research methods. The study employed a demographic information form questionnaire used for identifying participants' age, gender, faculty, class, socioeconomic status, and factors influencing their career choice decisions, along with the Gender Role in Career Choice Scale. The universe of the study consists of students enrolled in undergraduate programs at Fırat University. The sample of the study consists of 798 university students selected through simple random sampling method based on probability from the universe. The findings reveal that university students tend to adopt egalitarian gender roles more than traditional roles in career choices. Furthermore, variables such as age, faculty of study, and socioeconomic status were found not to be significant factors affecting gender roles in career choice. However, it was determined that students' adoption of egalitarian gender roles in career choice significantly differs according to their class levels, with second-year students showing a higher adoption compared to fourth-year students. Additionally, significant differences were observed among students who adopted egalitarian gender roles in terms of factors influencing career choice. The findings indicate that students who perceive career choice as their own decision tend to adopt egalitarian gender roles more than those influenced by their families. In line with the findings of the study, it is observed that greater efforts are needed to achieve gender equality in career choices. The results of the research demonstrate that egalitarian gender roles are more dominant than traditional roles in the career choices of university students. Several recommendations for future research are provided.

Bu araştırmanın amacı üniversite öğrencilerinin toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin meslek seçimleri üzerindeki etkisini farklı değişkenler açısından incelemektir. Araştırmada üniversite öğrencilerinin yaş düzeyleri, öğrenim gördükleri fakülte, sınıf düzeyleri, sosyo-ekonomik düzeyleri ve mesleki seçim kararını etkileyenlere göre toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin meslek seçimleri üzerindeki etkisi incelenmiştir. Araştırma nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden tarama modeline göre yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak katılımcıların yaş, cinsiyet, fakülte, sınıf, sosyoekonomik düzeyi ve meslek seçimi kararını etkili olanların belirlenmesi amacıyla demografik bilgi formu anketi ile Meslek Seçiminde Toplumsal Cinsiyetin Rolü Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Fırat Üniversitesinde lisans programlarında öğrenim gören öğrenciler oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örnekleminin ise evrenden olasılığa dayalı basit tesadüfi örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilen 798 üniversite öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Bulgular, üniversite öğrencilerinin meslek seçiminde eşitlikçi cinsiyet rollerinin gelenekselci rollere göre daha fazla benimsediklerini ortaya koymuştur. Ayrıca yaş, öğrenim görülen fakülte ve sosyo-ekonomik durum gibi değişkenlerin toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri açısından meslek seçimi üzerinde etkili bir değişken olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Bununla birlikte, öğrencilerin sınıf düzeylerine göre meslek seçiminde eşitlikçi cinsiyet rollerini benimseyenlerin istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde farklılaştığı ve ikinci sınıfta öğrenim görenlerin dördüncü sınıftakilere göre eşitlikçi rolleri daha fazla benimsediği tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca, öğrencilerin mesleki seçim kararlarında etkili olanlar açısından eşitlikçi cinsiyet rollerini benimseyenlerin anlamlı düzeyde farklılık gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Bulgular meslek seçiminin kendi kararı olduğunu belirten öğrencilerin, ailesinden etkilenenlere göre eşitlikçi cinsiyet rolünü daha fazla benimsediklerini göstermektedir. Araştırmanın sonuçları, üniversite öğrencilerinin meslek seçiminde eşitlikçi cinsiyet rollerinin gelenekselci rollere göre daha baskın olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Araştırmanın sonuçları doğrultusunda, meslek tercihinde cinsiyet eşitliği konusunda daha fazla çaba gösterilmesi gerektiği görülmektedir. Gelecekteki çalışmalar için bazı öneriler sunulmuştur.
