The aim of this study is to improve students' awareness of values by using flags and banners within the scope of social studies course. With the studies prepared with the examples of flags and banners used in Turkish states, the values of "independence", "freedom", "patriotism" and "respect" were tried to be developed. This study is of great importance for the promotion of Turkish flags and banners, which are of great importance for the existence, unity and independence of a nation, and for the development of values that have an important place in education programs. In this study, it is essential to determine the importance of the flag as a symbol of national independence and freedom with examples of flags and banners, to develop values and to raise awareness of protecting the flag. This study was carried out within the scope of "Active Citizenship Unit" within the scope of social studies course with 25 5th grade students of a state secondary school in Ereğli district of Zonguldak province in the 2020-2021 academic year. This research was carried out with the case study pattern, which is one of the qualitative research models Within the scope of this study, data were collected with the answers given by the students to the questions about the analysis of the values related to the flag and ensign samples in the worksheets, and the collected data were analyzed with the descriptive analysis method. As a result of the study, it was determined that the students gained awareness about the values with the comments and determinations extracted from the students' discourses and that the studies were effective for the development of the students' values.
