The pace of technological progress compels all sectors towards adaptability and transformation, with the banking sector being one of the most conspicuous areas of this transformation. In this context, particularly emphasizing the development of digital banking in recent years, how it has progressed on the processes and systems of this sector is a significant concern. Within this scope, the evolution of banking in the history of Turkey and the world, different types of banking, and structures, as well as the ways digital banking is implemented, are examined. The adaptation process of banks to digital banking must be not only complex but also rapid. This necessity is based on the ability of banks to keep pace with swift changes to compete with other financial institutions in a competitive market environment. During this period, banks are obliged to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, such as improving their technological infrastructure, transferring branch services to digital platforms, and expanding the service and product range of call centers. This also addresses the potential impact of digital banking on participation banking, the applications of participation banking worldwide and in Turkey, and how the processes of this type of banking could be integrated into digital environments. Furthermore, potential impacts on participation banking with technological advancements and the development of digital banking, issues such as the sustainability and auditing of digitalization are examined based on examples from Turkey and the world.
