When the Music Education Undergraduate Program (MEUP) is examined, it is seen that the individual and group major area courses increase the course load of the academicians of Music Education Departments (MED) significantly. However, academicians have to carry out various professional duties such as scientific, artistic, administrative duties, educational preparations in addition to lecturing. In this context, balancing the workload of academicians in a way that allocates time for all their duties is of great importance in terms of both providing quality education and training and sustainability of professional productivity. However, when the relevant literature was searched, no research was found on the course load of academicians in MED. The aim of the research is to determine the distribution of undergraduate course loads of academic staff and paid educators in 33 MEDs, where education and training activities are carried out actively throughout Turkey, across 7 regions and Turkey. As a result of the research, in which the descriptive method is preferred in the survey model, it is determined that a total of 409 academicians, 356 of whom are permanent staff and 53 of whom are paid staff, give education to 2756 students in 33 MEDs. It is determined that while the average weekly course hours of MEDs in the fall semester is 180.36, this average is 159.60 in the spring semester, that is, there is a difference of 311.4 hours between the two semesters for a total of 15 weeks. In addition, it is determined that the average weekly course hours of 409 educators working in MEDs are 15.79 hours in the fall semester, and 14.18 hours in the spring semester, and the difference between the two semesters is 24.15 hours in a total of 15 weeks. The results of the research show that although a standardized program is used in 33 MEDs in Turkey, both the number of academic staff and students and the weekly course hours of academics do not show a homogeneous distribution.
