INVESTIGATION OF THE THEORY OF BROKEN WINDOWS IN SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS

The fact that the employees of sports organizations, which are of great importance for the country, work with sensitivity, behave positively and have responsibility will make great contributions to the country's health and economy. In this study, it is aimed to determine whether the theory of broken windows in sports organizations differs according to different variables. The study group of the research consists of 187 employees (28.9% female, 71.1% male) randomly selected from the Provincial Directorates of Youth Services and Sports in different provinces. As data collection tools, a demographic information form belonging to the personal characteristics of the employees (age, gender, years of service, working status in a different institution and the department graduated) and a 2-dimensional study developed by Bektaş, Erkal and Çetin (2019) were used to determine the broken windows levels of the employees. (individual, managerial) Organizational Broken Windows Scale was used. While analyzing the data, it was checked whether the data were normally distributed before the analysis, and it was determined that the data met the normality assumption as a result of the Kolmogorow-Smirnov normality test. Independent sample t-test was used to determine the pairwise comparisons according to the descriptive characteristics of the employees. The results of the research showed a significant difference in the managerial factor, one of the broken windows theory sub-dimensions, in favor of those who graduated from departments other than Physical Education and Sports departments. Another finding of ours is that there is a significant difference in the managerial factor, which is one of the sub-dimensions of the theory of broken windows, in favor of those who have worked in another institution before. However, no significant difference was found regarding the individual and managerial sub-dimensions of the organizational broken windows scale according to the variables of gender, age and years of service. As a result, the most important feature that distinguishes sports organizations from other organizations is that they have a dynamic human factor. Therefore, this dynamic structure will turn into a stronger structure when the employees consist of experts who will serve in this field.
