EXAMINATION OF RELATION BETWEEN COMPETENCES OF PRE-SCHOOL TEACHERS' SCIENCE ACTIVITIES AND ATTITUDES AGAINST SCIENCE EDUCATION

To reveal the competencies of preschool teachers regarding science activities and their attitudes towards science teaching by examining them in terms of some variables and measuring the relationships and differences between them. In the study, the survey method was used to determine the situation. In the descriptive method, existing situations or individuals are tried to be defined within their own conditions. Bu sebeple okul öncesi öğretmenlerin fen etkinliklerine ilişkin yeterlilikleri ile fen öğretimine karşı tutumları arasındaki ilişkiyi  incelemeyi hedefleyen bu çalışmada değişkenler arasında değişimin varlığını tespit etmek için tarama modeli esas alınmıştır.  In data acquisition, the proficiency scale developed by Özbey and Sinanoğlu and Cho et al. The attitude scale developed by was used. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 program. The population of the research consists of preschool teachers in Kastamonu province. The sample study group of the research consists of a total of 184 pre-school teachers, formed by simple random sampling method, working in public and private kindergartens affiliated to the Ministry of National Education and primary schools in the central schools and districts of Kastamonu province in the 2016-2017 academic year. According to the results obtained from the data analysis of the research, a positive relationship was observed between the comfort-discomfort sub-dimension of the attitude scale applied to preschool teachers and the materials and methods used sub-dimensions of the proficiency scale. It was concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between the pre-instructional preparation sub-dimension of the attitude scale and the level of knowledge regarding the application of the proficiency scale. It was concluded that there is a positive significant relationship between the developmental appropriateness sub-dimension of the attitude scale and the level of knowledge about practice sub-dimensions of the competence scale. It has been found that as preschool teachers' proficiency in science activities increases, their attitudes towards science teaching also increase.
