This research was conducted to examine the relationship between meeting basic psychological needs and sports anxiety levels in athletes in terms of demographic variables. 289 individuals with different demographic characteristics who continued to actively engage in sports at high school and undergraduate education participated in the research. Data collection in this study consists of three parts. In the first part of the study, the personal information form developed by the researcher, in the second part, participants were asked to use the Basic Psychological Needs Scale developed by Deci and Ryan (2000) and adapted into Turkish by Kesici et al. (2003), and in the third part, the participants were asked to use the Basic Psychological Needs Scale developed by Smith et al., ıt consists of the Sports Anxiety Scale-2 (Smith et al., 2006), adapted into Turkish by Karadağ and Aşçı (2020). In this study, data was analyzed using the IBM SPSS 22.0 program and calculations such as frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation and Cronbach alpha were made. The suitability of the data for normal distribution was examined by looking at the kurtosis and skewness coefficients. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the data did not show a normal distribution. As a result, Mann-Whitney U test was used for variables with two levels, and Kruskal-Wallis H and Spearman Correlation and Regression analysis were used for variables with three or more levels. The relationship between meeting basic psychological needs and anxiety levels in athletes, as well as its effects in terms of some variables, were examined; It was determined that the general average level of satisfaction of basic psychological needs was good and sports anxiety levels were below average. It was concluded that there was a significant difference between basic psychological needs and age, as well as between the variables of sports anxiety, gender and licensed sports, the anxiety sub-dimension and the type of school and how long have you been doing sports?, and the somatic anxiety sub-dimension and licensed sports activities (p <0.05).
