THE READING SKILL PREDICTION LEVELS OF THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT THE TURKISH STUDENTS HAVE AT HOME ACCORDING TO 2015 PISA RESULTS
Programme for International Student Assessment-PISA), considered one of the most comprehensive educational researches in the World, has been applied in the OECD member countries and the participating countries by Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) once in every 3 years since 2000. PISA assesses mainly reading skill, Mathematics and Science achievement, and announces the results considering various variables. Countries are able to direct their educational policies in accordance with these results. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the opportunities that the Turkish students have at home predict their reading skills according to the recently published PISA data. In the study, in which structural equation modelling analysis was conducted, it is concluded that the opportunities that the Turkish students have at home significantly predict their reading skills.
