THE TURKISH OF ADAPTATION OF THE PERCEPTIONS OF PARENTING INVERTORY: A VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY STUDY
The purpose of this study is to adopt ‘Perception of Parenting Inventory’ that was developed by Lawson (2004) into Turkish and to assess the reliability and validity of scale. The scale includes 28 items and six subscale named as ‘enrichment- isolation- commitment- instrumental costs- continuity and perceived support’ and it has a rating of the type of seven Likert. The sample group of this study which was conducted using convenience sampling method consists of 298 university students (225 female and 73 male). In order to determine the construct validity of scale, confirmatory factor analysis was conducted. According to the results, the scale has adequate fix index (?2/sd=2.33; RMSEA=.067; CFI=.77; IFI= .78; NFI=.66; TLI=.72) and internal consistency measures for subscale varies between .42 and .80. The total internal consistency reliability is .68. Consequently, it can be said that this scale including 28 items and six subscales, is a valid and reliable measure which can be used at higher education institutions in Turkey.
