COMPARISON OF GENERAL EDUCATION AND SCIENCE TEACHING PROGRAMS: TURKEY AND POLAND
In this study, it has been aimed to compare the general education programs of Turkey and Poland with the content and the aims of their science education programs. In this paper, the contents, learning fields, units and the science programs’ tuition hours of the programs have been examined. It has been used the qualitative research technique to examine the aims and the contents of the Turkey’s and Poland’s education programs. In comparison of general education in these countries, it has been found that Turkey is managed by the centralized education system, while Poland is managed by four part which are general, regional, school area and local parts. The unit contents of the science programs generally focus on nature and environment in Poland. In contrast to this, in Turkey, the basic science (physics, chemistry, biology) included in each unit has a place in each grade. Another important difference between the teacher training programs in Turkey and Poland is that; there are differences between the course duration and course contents of the science teacher candidates in undergraduate programs in both countries. As a result, it has been understood that this study has mentioned the similarities and the differences of the general education systems which belongs to these both countries.
