Abstract


PARTICIPATION PROCESS OF PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS INTO SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROJECT: EXAMPLE OF LETS DO IT! WORLD
Planned social responsibility education is very important to be provided at schools to have individuals with social responsibility awareness. For this reason, social responsibility education have a crucial place in teacher training programs. The primary aim of this study was to identify the views of preservice teachers on the project "Let's Do It" that is a global cleaning movement and aims to clean the world in a day. The study was conducted with 19 pre-service teachers studying their fourth year in social studies education at the education faculty of a Turkish state university. Survey model was employed in the study. In this regard, an open-ended survey and diary was used to gather the data that were analysed through the descriptive analysis method. According to the findings, the project was regarded as important, it contributed to the teacher candidates both personally and professionally, and they wanted to continue working in this project. In addition, various problems were experienced in the process of the project, and these problems can be solved in light of the suggestions stated by the preservice teachers. Based on the findings, it can be suggested that planning should be emphasized in the project, the contribution of the Provincial Directorates of National Education, the municipal authority and non-governmental organizations should be enhanced, and the project can be improved by implementing methods such as action research and experimental model.
