Abstract
THE VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY STUDIES OF TURKISH VERSION OF THE COUNSELOR BURNOUT INVENTORY
The aim of this research is to examine the validity and reliablity of the Turkish version of the Counselor Burnout Inventory (Lee et al., 2007). Participants were 112school counselors (34 male and 78 female). The results of confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated that the 20 items loded on five factors (exhaustion, incompetence, negative work environment, devaluing client, deterioration in personal life). And the five dimensional model was well fit (x²= 194.40, df= 156, RMSEA= .047, CFI= .96, IFI=.97, GFI= .85, AGFI= .80, SRMR= .075). Internal consistency reliability coefficients were .86 for exhaustion, .88 for incompetence, .86 for negative work environment, .83 for devaluing client, .85 for deterioration in personal life and .89 for overall scale. The corrected item-total corelations ranged form .54 to .83. These results demonstrate that Turkish version of this scale is a valid and reliable instrument.
