İRAN KONUTLARINDA MUTFAK MEKÂNININ MAHREMİYET OLGUSU ÜZERİNDEN İNCELENMESİ

The political and cultural changes experienced in Iran's historical process have not only reflected in Iran's urban planning, but also in Iranian traditional residential architecture. These reflections have affected the phenomenon of secrecy and introversion, which shapes the basic structure and lifestyles of Iranian society. In Iran, where culture and lifestyle were affected by the influence of the West, the interior space planning of the residential buildings was left to open to the outside instead of introvert. With the adoption of a modern culture and lifestyle by Iranian women with the influence of the West, the plan scheme and use of the kitchen, which is the dominant place in the house, has changed. The kitchen space is important because it is the dominant place of women as a symbol of privacy in Iranian culture. In this study, the historical process of Iran is examined periodically and the phenomenon of privacy in Iranian society, which has given importance to privacy in every period of its history, has been investigated. The development processes of traditional residences and kitchen spaces with western influence, planning decisions and criteria that bring privacy to the foreground were examined. It is seen that the kitchen spaces as closed spaces exist in the hidden parts of the residences and have transformed with industrialization and technological developments, over time a window was opened between the kitchen and the dining room to serve food, with the opening of this window, open use came to the fore.
