Abstract


TENDENCIES OF STUDIES CARRIED OUT IN THE FIELD OF EDUCATION DURING THE PANDEMIC: THE CASE OF TURKEY

With the Covid-19 outbreak that affected the world, it was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2020.  One of the institutions that has been affected from this process was education. The aim of this study is to reveal the tendencies of the articles published in the field of education on the pandemic in Turkish based journals in 2020 in a holistic and comprehensive manner according to the number of authors, subject areas, method and model used, sample size, data collection tools and data analysis method.  A descriptive-content analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was utilized in order to examine the articles in depth. The study population consisted of the articles published in the field of education on the pandemic in Turkish based journals in 2020. In the selection of the study population, criterion sampling method, which is a type of purposeful sampling, was used. The articles in the study population were collected with the "Publication Classification Form." Content analysis technique was used in the analysis of the data. According to the findings of the research, it was revealed that the articles published in the field of education on the pandemic in Turkey generally have two authors and a large part of the topics have included “education problems". The most frequently used designs were survey method, one of the quantitative research methods, and case study as the qualitative research method. When the studies were analyzed in terms of sample groups, it was revealed that the largest sample consisted of undergraduate students, and the sample size was generally between 31-100 and 101-300. The most frequently used data collection tools in the studies were questionnaires and interview techniques. In addition, according to the data analysis findings, the most frequently preferred methods were descriptive analysis, t-test and ANOVA, among the qualitative analysis methods, and content analysis as the qualitative analysis.
