The aim of this study is to reveal adolescents' perceptions of adolescence through metaphors. The research was carried out using the phenomenology model, one of the qualitative research models. The study group of the research consisted of 139 high school students studying at a state high school in the 2019-2020 academic year. In the research, a semi-structured interview form prepared by the researcher with an explanation and instruction regarding the concept of metaphor was used as the data collection tool. In the form, participants say "Adolescents and adolescence period is like /similar to ………………. because ......................" They were asked to write using metaphor. Before filling out the forms, the participants were given a brief information about the metaphors, and a few examples using metaphors related to different concepts were given as an example. The data obtained from the participants were analyzed and interpreted with the method of content analysis. It was determined that different metaphors were produced. These metaphors; In terms of their common features, they are grouped under six different categories such as "distress and stress", "in consistency and variability," uncontroll ability and hyperactivity "," process and transition "," aim lessness and use lessness "and" sensitivity ". When the categories were evaluated, it was determined that adolescents had been more used metaphors with negative perceptions and thoughts about adolescence and adolescence period. As a result, it is thought that the ability of adolescents to concretize and conceptualize their perceptions of the developmental period they are in will be important in pedagogical terms. Because these perception styles can also be considered as an indicator of adolescents' perspective towards the developmental period they are in. In addition, knowing these perspectives by educators and families can make a significant contributions to the organization of approaches to adolescents, and especially to understanding their mood.
