Abstract


STUDY INTO THE PERSPECTIVES OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS OVER GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING SERVICES
The presence of Guidance and Psychological Counseling Service in the schools is of great importance in personal development, solving personal problems, academic failures of the students, family problems, school problems, adaptation problems to the environment and future concerns by trying to identify every aspect of the student as a whole. In this study, we aimed at determining the students' mental perceptions about school guidance and psychological counseling service through metaphors. The study area consists of 20 students selected by random sampling method in 11th and 12th classes of the high schools in Yerköy, sub-province of Yozgat. The research data were obtained by semi-structured interview form in qualitative research method. The problem statement of the research is "The guidance and psychological counseling service is similar to …..., because ... ". As a result of the research, the students produced total 42 metaphors with 28 different metaphors related to guidance and psychological counseling service. Metaphors produced by students were grouped under four themes. Metaphors produced by the students are collected mostly under the theme of trust. The students have explained the school guidance and psychological counseling service with the metaphor of friend.
