Abstract
6TH, 7TH AND 8TH GRADE STUDENTS’ VIEWS ABOUT PERFORMANCE TASKS AND THEIR ETHICAL PERCEPTIONS FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT
The aim of this study is to investigate 6th,7th and 8th graders’ ideas and ethical attitudes towards performance homework.The research is based on scanning model. The Interview technique, which is one of the quantitative data collection techniques, was used to collect data for the research. The questionnaire developed for the research consists of three parts. Part 1 is ‘Demographic Data’, Part 2 is ‘Performance Homework Questionnaire’ and Part 3 is ‘Homework Preparation Ethical Perception Scale’. The study was carried out in May in the second semester of 2011-2012 academic year. A group of 6th, 7th and 8th graders from primary schools in the city center of Tokat were studied. 9 schools from the city center and 1689 students chosen by random sample method were involved in the sample of research. The findings strongly indicated that neither the students nor the parents had negative attitudes towards performance homework and the cost of it. Further analysis showed that students used internet as a primary resource and that generally they had difficulty in Maths performance homework. It was concluded that ethical perceptions of girls were higher than those of boys. The results revealed no relation or negative relation between performance homework and classroom environment and the educational levels of parents.
