Since humor is a form of communication and every type of communication requires a purpose and a suitable channel and a tool for the healthy transmission of this purpose, humor must also contain a purpose as a tool. Figures, subject matter, even voice and characters are very important according to its type, method of application and content. For example, if the aim of a stand up is to convey a message, the target group should be able to understand this message. In addition, when it is considered that stand-up is given within the scope of a story in message transfer, the actors, characters in the story and the subject they reveal are also very important. However, the most important factor that makes all these elements successful is the language used in the action. Since humor has a cultural and universal infrastructure, it is quite rich in terms of subject diversity. On top of that, it can be said that it is a tool that can be easily applied, considering the humorous or relaxing effects in its definitions. Therefore, it can be said that the important thing is not finding the subject, but how it should be applied. Whether it is local humor or humor with foreign content, if the person applying humor can answer this "how" question correctly, it will be successful in every sense. In other words, the difficulty is the style in which the idea to be conveyed will be conveyed. This style describes how the idea is transformed into expression. n the related study, attention will be drawn to the rhetoric that plays a role in this expression, the function and importance of rhetorical elements in humor, and examples of which rhetorical elements are included in line with the purpose will be presented. When we look at the literature studies on the subject, the difference of the relevant study is that it approaches humor especially in terms of rhetorical elements as a style.

Mizahın bir iletişim şekli olması ve her iletişim türünde bir amaç ve bu amacın sağlıklı iletimi için uygun bir kanal ve bir araç bulunması gerektiğinden mizah da bir araç olarak amaç içermek durumundadır. Türüne, uygulanış şekline ve içeriğine göre figürler, konu, hatta ses ve karakterler oldukça önemlidir. Örneğin bir stand up’ta amaç bir mesaj vermek ise, hedef grup bu mesajı anlayacak nitelikte olmalıdır. Ayrıca mesaj aktarımında stand up’ın süre itibarıyla bir hikâye kapsamında verildiği düşünüldüğünde hikâyenin içinde yer alan oyuncular, karakterler ve bunların ortaya koyduğu konu da çok önemlidir. Ancak en önemlisi ve bütün bu unsurları başarılı kılan etken eylemde kullanılan dilin kendisidir. Mizahın kültürel ve evrensel bir altyapıya sahip olması nedeniyle konu çeşitliliği açısından oldukça zengindir. Bununla birlikte gülmece ya da tanımlarında var olan rahatlatıcı etkileri göz önünde bulundurulduğunda uygulaması da rahatlıkla yapılabilen bir araç olduğu söylenebilir. Bu nedenle önemli olan, konunun bulunması değil nasıl uygulanması gerektiğidir denebilir. Bu ister yerel isterse yabancı içerikli bir mizah olsun, mizahı uygulayan kişi şayet bu “nasıl” sorusunun cevabını doğru verebiliyorsa her türlü anlamda başarılı olacaktır. Yani zorluk, iletilmek istenen fikrin nasıl bir üslup kapsamında aktarılacağıdır. Bu üslup, fikrin nasıl ifadeye dönüştüğünü betimlemektedir. İlgili çalışmada, bu ifadede rol oynayan söz sanatlarına, retorik ögelerin mizah da işlevine ve önemine dikkat çekilecek olup, amaç doğrultusunda hangi retorik ögelere yer verildiğine ilişkin Türkçe ve Almanca örnekler sunulacaktır. Konuyla ilgili alanyazın çalışmalarına bakıldığında ilgili çalışmanın farkı mizaha özellikle üslup olarak retorik ögeler açısından yaklaşılmasıdır.
