Abstract


THE FUNCTIONALITY OF SOCIAL CLUBS ACCORDING TO PERCEPTIONS OF STUDENTS IN CONTEXT OF RECREATION
The aim of this research is to determine the functionality of social clubs regarding the views of students. In this research, twelve students including six girls and six boys from tecnical highschools were interviewed. Research has been developed with qualitative research method. Cathegorichal data analysis, a kind of content analysis, was used. According to results, social clubs are regarded as a way of getting away from intensive course Schedule. In addition to this, clubs are viewed as a meants of ingratiating themselves with the teacher, hobby, enjoyment self development and socialization. Insufficiency of sport activities and scarcity of expert educators are citicised by the students. Students don’t find school administration and teachers satisfactory for expecially social clubs with regard to planning, guidance and providity education/resources. Teachers of social clubs need to have sufficient capacity fort the relevant club. Curriculum taking social clubs will prevent the students to graduate only with coursebook knowledge and right the way fort hem to acquire abilities to express their opinions independently by raising their entrepreneurship abilities and improve their responsibility feelings and leadership skills.
