Abstract


INVESTIGATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PROSPECTİVE TEACHERS’ CLASS MANAGEMENT COMPETENCIES AND THEIR ATTITUDES TOWARDS TEACHING PROFESSION
The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between of prospective teachers’ classroom management competencies and their attitudes towards teaching profession. The research was conducted in the relational survey model. The working group of the research were of 177 (56.5%) female and 136 (43.5) men total 313 students who had succeeded school experience course in Ziya Gökalp Education Department of Dicle University in 2012 – 2013 Education year (spring semester). As data collection tools "The Prospective Teachers' Classroom Management Competency Scale (PTCMES)" developed by the researchers and “The Scale of Students’ Attitudes Towards Teaching Profession (SSATTP)" developed by Semerci (1999) were used. For the data obtained in the study; frequency, mean, standard deviation, Pearson's correlation coefficient and simple analysis techniques were used. These analyzes were performed using the SPSS 20 software program. As a result of the study, it is found that the prospective teachers' classroom management competence, except behavior management dimension, in all dimensions and in total scale is high level; in the behavior management dimension is moderate level. In addition, a positive significant relationship was detected between the scores of prospective teachers ÖÖMTÖ and all subscales of ÖASYYÖ. Finally, prospective teachers' classroom management competence is determined to be a significant predictor of attitudes towards the teaching profession.
