Abstract


THE ACQUISITION LEVEL OF GRAPHIC READING SKILLS OF ELEMENTARY SOCIAL STUDIES 7th GRADA STUDENTS
This research has been carried out in order to find out the acquisition level of the students studying social studies of abilities to interpret graphics. The necessary datum for the research has been gathered from 136 7th grade students studying social studies at 3 primary schools in the city centre of Adıyaman and a village school in the city centre. The results obtained through the research; the general graphic interpretation ability of the students is near the average (%47). Commonly, while the abilities of the students to interpret the one dimensional graphics are above %90, the success level decrease down to %11 in questions containing both column and line graphics. The graphic interpretation ability of the students do not show a significant difference depending on gender and school type.
