The aim of the study was to evaluate the principles' leadership practices on the assistant principals’ leadership self-efficacy. The study was carried out as a descriptive study in the screening model in order to determine the present situation. The hypotheses of the qualitative research method were used in the study. The data of the study were obtained through a semi-structured interview form applied to the six principals and ten assistant principals in the secondary school in Ankara. The data were analysed by using content analysis. In order to increase the internal validity of the study, field experts have been consulted with the field expert regarding the determination of the themes and codes and the data analysis process, and opinions from the judges of the measurement-evaluation experts on the qualitative research method have been taken. When the opinions of the participants were examined, it was seen that the strategies used by the principles in the development of the leadership role of assistant principals varied. When these strategies were examined, it was determined that there were behaviors such as giving tasks that are compelling and contributing, giving feedback about their work, the profession of work, encouragement, and praise. On the other hand, it was understood that the assistant principals had an opportunity to co-learn with their colleagues on daily tasks and supported their self-efficacy beliefs.
