THE NEEDS OF PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS’ PEDOGOCICAL CONTENT KNOWLEDGE FOR SCIENCE LEARNING AND TEACHING
The aim of this study, determine of primary school teachers’ pedogocical content knowledge needs in the science and technology courses. The needs of primary school teachers in science and technology courses were thought as a phenomenon and these needs were described by delphy method. Maximum sampling method was used, in the creation of the study group. The participants of the study, in 2011-2012 academic year, were consisted of primary school students’ parents, primary school teachers, science and technology teachers, school managers from three different cities in Turkey. Also, data collection process was included pre-service teachers and academics who has been specializing in science eduction. For obtaining data has been used the delphy method. According to results, participants consider that it is necessary of adapt to science teaching and knowledge of science programs categories and also it is absolutely necessary of knowledge of understanding students, teacher competence, knowledge of teaching strategies and knowlege of teaching evaluation. Following the changes, associating with other courses, recognition of students, high self-efficacy, being objective in evaluation process, the greatest needs were emphasized by the participants.
