Abstract


DETERMINATION OF THE PHYSICAL FACILITIES OF THE BUILDINGS AND COURSE MATERIALS AT THE DEPARTMENTS OF THE MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAMS IN TURKEY
The present Music Education Undergraduate Program consists of numerous courses aiming to give a variety of skills and knowledge. Depending on the purpose and scope of these courses, various instruments, course materials and educational places are needed for each of these courses. Therefore, in addition to the quantitative and qualitative competence of the academic staff, physical facilities and course materials have a great place in the process of music teachers' education. The purpose of the present study is to determine the number of the students, course materials and physical facilities of the Departments of Music Education in Turkey and to ascertain their distribution among seven regions. The population of the research consists of the number of students, the physical features of the buildings and the course materials at 28 Music Education Departments. Some of the research data was applied through literature review and the others were obtained via the survey information form. Information about 28 Music Education Departments was reached via the interview method with the academicians. Thus, current information related to the number of the students, course materials and physical facilities was obtained. SPSS 22 software was used in the process of data and the results were commented as frequency values. As a result, it was concluded that there was no equal distribution among the regions in terms of the student numbers, physical facilities and there were remarkable differences among the regions. The research results were discussed and suggestions were made for the solution of the existing problems.
