VIEWS OF GEOGRAPHY TEACHER CANDIDATES ABOUT FIELD AND VOCATIONAL COURSES
ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to determine the thoughts of geography teacher candidates about their pedagogical information and geography field information in terms of their contribution in the future. The thoughts of teacher candidates were tried to be determined with the open-ended questions applied to 32 senior students at the Department of Geography Teaching at Ahmet Keleşoğlu Education Faculty of Necmettin Erbakan University and 39 students taking pedagogical formation training. Data was obtained through the open-ended question technique from the qualitative research methods. It has been determined according to the findings obtained from the data that geography teacher candidates believe the necessity of both the field information and vocational information. There are some criticizes at some points but the general view is that they are both necessary. The view of the teacher candidates can be summarized as; it is necessary to know the subject but that’s not enough, it is also necessary to learn how to teach it.
