Abstract


DEVELOPING A MUSIC LITERACY SCALE TO PRESCHOOL AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
The aim of this research is to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool for determining the music literacy levels of the elementary school and preschool pre-service teachers studying in Turkish universities' Faculties of Education. The sample of there search which was survey model consists of 181 fourth year pre-service teachers at Ahi Evran University in 2014-2015 academic years of them, 120 study in the Department of Elementary School Teaching, and 61 study in the Department of Preschool Teaching. At first scale is a 5-point Likert type scale with 41 items. After the pilot practicingthe final version of scale having 32 items and consists of 5 factors. The Cronbach's Alpha reliabilitycoefficient of the entire Music Literacy Scale was 0.904.
