Abstract


THE COMPARISON OF LEVELS OF PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS LIVE IN RURAL AND URBAN AREAS IN WARENESS ON BIOLOGICAL CONCEPTS ENCOUNTER IN THEIR EVERYDAY LIFE
Rural region is generally described as an area where agriculture and stockbreeding are implemented and in parallel with this it is also an area where individuals living there have chance to observe all life cycle of plants and animals. In the same way, not having light and visual pollutions increase possibilities of making observation about sky and liveliness much more. For these reasons in study it is aimed determine to what extend students of rural region who are thought to have chance to meet natural cases in a simply way and students of urban region who are restricted from natural living regions are aware of scientific facts and cases. In accordance with this objective totally 175 students studying in Kırşehir city center and Çiçekdağı district were consisted of this study group. Within the context of this study the reason of selection of 2. grade students was that they had not encountered directly any scientific process and scientific information in the scope of lesson yet and the reason of not selection of 1. Grade students were about their focusing on read and write education as of the first year. The study was implemented in 2011-2012 academic year. Single screening model was used in study; acquired data was evaluated with content analysis. While it was expected that students’ those had more chance to make observation in rural region, awareness level for science terms in daily life were more than students in urban region, according to research results, it was determined that students living in urban region were more aware of scientific facts and cases than students living in rural region.
